Propelled by Beauty
our ships have met.
We have worshipped different stars
but see with the same light.
Although our words
for day and night
and tree and fruit
are not the same
and your rough speech
to me is guttural
there is yet music in it
and who is here to say
that treasure hasn’t been found
and shouldn’t be spent
before the deeper darkness
calls us home.
