I am sliding across
your rippling image.
A flash of glass,
a rope of bones.
You move like smoke beneath me
and I know,
in the morning,
my hands will be stained
with the scent of fire.

Valentina Cano is a student of classical singing who spends whatever free time either writing or reading. Her works have appeared in Exercise Bowler, Blinking Cursor, Theory Train, and other venues.
