“we are all energy” by M. Darusha Wehm
come back to your cyborg offspring
connected and singular
with their freedom and incomprehensible slang
you fear they no longer need you
that they no longer even recognize you
as a common species
when they say hope
they mean effort
the sunset is still beautiful
to augmented eyeballs
infrared and shining
numinous
the eye of the beholder
is irrelevant
this is the fundamental difference
thinking life is what happens to you
or making a life out of days
why be content with tedious evolution
and its random mutations
for statistically insignificant improvements
it’s never too late
if there’s still a spark
to make yourself out of something
